A New Era for Clemson Basketball
Clemson University is poised to complete a $40 million renovation that will deliver a brand‑new basketball practice facility by October or November 2026. The 51,000‑square‑foot project adds 30,000 square feet of new construction and upgrades existing spaces, creating a modern hub for both the men’s and women’s programs.
The facility will give each team its own practice gym, offices and team areas, ending the shared use of the Swann Pavilion that has housed the programs since the 2016‑17 season. In addition to the courts, the renovation expands strength and conditioning, nutrition and sports‑medicine resources, and incorporates the latest operational and technology upgrades for the women’s side.
Coach Brad Brownell’s men’s squad, fresh off its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, will enter the 2026‑27 season with a revamped roster that includes four portal transfers and three freshmen. The team also welcomed four new assistant coaches and a new general manager as part of a broader staff overhaul.
On the women’s side, Coach Shawn Poppie has guided the Tigers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019, raising both total wins and ACC victories from the previous year. The program’s recent recruiting haul — ranked 14th among transfer portal classes and ninth among freshmen — signals growing momentum.
With the new complex slated to be ready before the 2026‑27 campaign, Clemson hopes to translate its upgraded infrastructure into sustained success on the national stage, aiming to return to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season for the first time since 2002.
