A National Spotlight on Flag Football
The NFL FLAG Championships, the world’s largest youth flag football tournament, will descend on Westfield, Indiana, from July 23 to 26, 2026. The event will bring together more than 350 teams representing dozens of communities from every corner of the globe.
Ten of those squads hail from the Cleveland Browns region, a testament to the franchise’s growing footprint in the flag football ecosystem.
The Browns have poured resources into the sport, installing 17 synthetic turf fields across Northeast Ohio since 2016 and backing a suite of grassroots programs that aim to broaden participation.
In a recent move, the organization helped sanction girls high school flag football as a varsity offering for the 2026‑2027 spring season, opening new competitive pathways for young athletes.
Flag football’s surge is not confined to Ohio. The sport now boasts roughly 20 million players worldwide, making it one of the fastest‑growing variants of the game.

Broadcast coverage will span a suite of platforms, including ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes, NFL+, the ESPN app, Disney+, Disney Channel, Disney XD and YouTube, ensuring that fans can follow the action across linear TV and streaming services.
Beyond the scoreboard, the Browns emphasize education, youth development and equitable access, seeking to embed the sport in schools and community centers throughout Northeast Ohio and beyond.
