Cleveland Guardians are set to promote Cooper Ingle, a former Clemson baseball standout, to the major leagues as the club prepares for a weekend series against the Seattle Mariners.
Ingle arrived at Triple‑A Columbus with a .284 batting average and a .967 OPS over 51 games, having collected 50 hits that included 12 home runs and 41 RBIs.
The move follows a collegiate career in which Ingle batted .329 over three seasons at Clemson, helping the Tigers capture the 2023 ACC Baseball Tournament championship and posting a .425 on‑base percentage while striking out only 62 times in 483 at‑bats.
A Fresh Face in the Lineup
Selected 125th overall in the 2023 MLB Draft, Ingle has already demonstrated versatility by playing behind the plate, as a designated hitter and in left field, and he brings a career minor‑league line of .282 with 33 homers and 173 RBIs across 281 games.
The Guardians hope his bat can add depth to the roster as they face the Mariners, a team that finished the previous season with a strong pitching staff but struggled to generate consistent offense.
If the promotion goes as planned, Ingle could become a key piece of the Guardians’ lineup, providing both power and flexibility as the club looks to contend in the coming weeks.
