A Promising Addition to the Friars
Providence College announced that Clyde Walters has signed an athletic aid agreement, securing his place on the 2026‑27 roster. The announcement comes as the program looks to bolster its front‑court depth with a player who has already demonstrated versatility at the national prep level.
Walters, a 6‑7 small forward from Pinson, Alabama, arrives after a standout stint with Overtime Elite RWE, where he averaged 6.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists over 18 games in the 2025‑26 season. He shot 42.3% from the field, 37.5% from three‑point range and 84.2% from the free‑throw line, starting 13 of the games he appeared in and logging 19.3 minutes per contest.
His statistical profile is complemented by impressive efficiency numbers and a high‑impact presence on the court. Walters recorded seven games with double‑digit points, highlighted by a season‑high 19‑point effort on November 16. Prior to his Elite Elite experience, he helped Brewster Academy reach the semifinals of the Chipotle Nationals, further cementing his reputation as a clutch performer.
Coach Bryan Hodgson, who has known Walters for many years, expressed confidence in the recruit’s upside, noting that the young forward possesses a tremendous ceiling and fits well within the program’s long‑term vision. Hodgson’s endorsement underscores the belief that Walters can make an immediate impact while continuing to develop his game.
The commitment also reflects Walters’ standing among the nation’s top prospects. He is recognized as a consensus four‑star recruit and ranks No. 1 in Alabama and No. 20 nationally among forwards, according to ESPN.com, Rivals and 247Sports. His ranking places him at No. 84 by Rivals.com, No. 96 by ESPN.com and No. 99 by 247Sports, highlighting the breadth of his national appeal.
