A Distinctive Academic Honor
The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced that the Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team has been awarded the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025‑26 academic year. The Chanticleers posted a collective grade point average of 3.289, comfortably exceeding the 3.0 threshold required for the distinction.
This marks the second occasion in the past three seasons that the program has received the honor, underscoring a sustained commitment to scholarly achievement alongside competitive play.
Coastal Carolina is one of only two institutions from the Sun Belt Conference to be recognized, the other being Appalachian State, highlighting the conference's growing emphasis on academic performance.
The association also named more than 2,300 student‑athletes to the NABC Honors Court, a list that includes seven former Chanticleers — AJ Dancler, Braeden MacVicar, Charles Dunlap, Connor Martin, Jackson Keil, Jerry Ngopot and Reggie Hill — who maintained cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher.
The NABC’s academic initiatives have been presented annually across all divisions of men's college basketball for over a decade, celebrating teams and individuals who balance athletic ambition with classroom excellence.
