A Schedule Packed with Challenges
On Thursday, Coastal Carolina University revealed its full slate for the 2026‑27 men’s basketball season, promising a rigorous road ahead that blends Sun Belt competition with a string of high‑profile non‑conference tests. The announcement highlighted that the team will enjoy 15 home dates inside the HTC Center, giving fans ample reason to fill the arena throughout the winter.
The Chanticleers open the campaign on November 2 with a MAC‑SBC Challenge matchup against Eastern Michigan, a game that will kick off a season that includes five opponents who advanced to the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Among the marquee non‑conference foes are Duke, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Queens, East Carolina and William & Mary, each of whom reached the NCAA Tournament last year, underscoring the ambitious nature of the schedule.
Inside the Sun Belt, Coastal will contest 18 conference games, while 14 additional contests will take them beyond the league. The roster of rivals includes former Big South foes Campbell and Winthrop, as well as in‑state opponent USC Upstate. The team will also host non‑Division I programs such as Virginia University of Lynchburg and Carolina University, providing both variety and opportunities for dominant performances.
The schedule’s structure features two MAC‑SBC Challenge games and culminates with the Sun Belt Championship in Pensacola, Florida, slated for March 2‑8. The regular season will wrap up at home on February 26 against Old Dominion, a fitting finale before the conference tournament begins.
