A Pitcher's Ascent
Colby Putnam, a rising sophomore on the mound, has officially signed with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League, bringing his talents to one of the most respected summer circuits for collegiate players.
The league, known for showcasing the nation's top NCAA Division I prospects alongside a handful of Division II and III standouts, requires each aspiring participant to receive a recommendation from a collegiate coach, a hurdle that Putnam cleared with his impressive rookie numbers.
During his debut season with the Runnin' Bulldogs, Putnam posted a 5‑2 record, a 4.94 earned run average and struck out 40 batters over 58.1 innings, while holding opponents to a .262 batting average.
His most memorable outing came at Radford, where he delivered six scoreless innings, allowing no earned runs and demonstrating the poise that caught the attention of league scouts.
The Commodores hope his addition will bolster a pitching staff that has been seeking depth, and his experience against high‑level competition is expected to translate into a strong showing in the upcoming summer schedule.
