Cole Chamberlain, a catcher who earned national attention as a top prospect, has officially joined the Oregon Ducks after transferring from Coastal Carolina.
A Strategic Addition for the Ducks
The move comes as Oregon looks to fill the void left by Burke-Lee Mabeus, who departed for Mississippi State, and to provide depth behind starter Brayden Jaksa.
Chamberlain brings a blend of experience from Texas, where he was ranked No. 22 nationally among high school catchers in 2024, and a power-hitting pedigree that saw him launch 10 home runs in his senior season.
Competition and Opportunity
Jaksa is expected to start, but Chamberlain’s bat could earn him regular at‑bats if he translates his high school power to the college game.
The staff, including Mark Wasikowski, views the addition as an opportunity to add versatility, with freshmen Trenton Hertzog and Jacob Madrid also entering the mix.
Looking Forward
With the new faces in place, the Ducks aim to strengthen their defensive backbone while adding a potential source of power at the plate, setting the stage for an intriguing season.
