The Oshawa Generals announced this week that forward Cole Mazzoni has inked a scholarship and development agreement, marking the latest step in a promising junior career that has already turned heads across the league.
A Draft‑Day Milestone
Selected 177th overall in the ninth round of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Mazzoni entered the conversation as a late‑blooming prospect whose size and skill set set him apart from many of his peers.
Standing at six feet two inches, the Michigan native combines a physical presence with a knack for generating offense, a combination that helped him tally 79 points in 61 games for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 16U AAA last season.
From Michigan to the National Stage
Beyond his club duties, Mazzoni earned a spot on the US National Development team, suiting up three times in the United States Hockey League and gaining exposure to elite competition that should smooth his transition to the OHL.
General manager of the Generals highlighted that the organization sees the scholarship as an investment in both athletic development and academic growth, ensuring that Mazzoni can continue to refine his game while completing his studies.
Looking Ahead
Coaches expect the forward to contribute immediately on the second line, bringing a blend of size, work ethic, and offensive upside that could prove pivotal in the team’s push for a playoff berth. With the support of the development staff, Mazzoni is poised to make a seamless adjustment to the faster pace of Ontario hockey.
