The College of the Canyons men’s basketball program has been honored with the 2025‑26 National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award, a distinction that places it among only fifteen community college teams nationwide to receive the accolade.

Academic Excellence Recognized

During the 2025‑26 academic year the Cougars posted a collective grade point average of 3.13 and devoted nearly 2,900 hours to tutoring and support services at The Learning Center, underscoring a commitment to scholarship as well as competition.

All three sophomores on the roster completed their associate degrees and have already transferred to four‑year universities, a testament to the program’s role in facilitating academic progression.

Court Performance Highlights

On the hardwood the team finished the regular season with a 16‑12 overall record and a 7‑7 mark within the Western State Conference, securing fifth place in the South Division.

Three Cougars earned spots on the All‑WSC South Division team, highlighting the blend of athletic talent and academic rigor that defined the season.

The program also marked a milestone by qualifying for the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs for the first time since the 2017‑18 campaign, extending the school’s competitive footprint.
