A packed home slate
Colorado’s men’s basketball program unveiled its 2026‑27 nonconference slate, a nine‑game home schedule that blends early‑season tests with marquee road trips. Coach Tad Boyle said the schedule is designed to sharpen the team before Big 12 play begins, giving the Buffaloes a chance to build chemistry while testing themselves against a diverse set of opponents.
The first test arrives on November 1, when the Buffaloes host Abilene Christian at the CU Events Center. A week later, they travel to Indianapolis for the Bill Walton Classic, where they will meet San Diego State on November 7 before returning home for a November 10 rematch.
Later in the month, Colorado will open its Boulder arena to a series of regional rivals. A December 5 showdown with in‑state opponent Colorado State will pit the Buffaloes against a familiar foe, and a December 29 game against Denver will add another layer of local intrigue. Additional home dates include contests with UTEP, Central Arkansas, Cal Poly and North Dakota, each bringing a different style of play to the schedule.
The road portion of the slate features a high‑profile matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on December 19, where the Buffaloes will face Purdue, a team that reached the Sweet 16 last season. Earlier in the year, the Buffaloes will also test themselves against Stanford and participate in the Acrisure Series, a West Coast circuit that could see them meet Atlantic 10 champion Saint Louis or Grand Canyon, a 20‑win program.
With a mix of home‑court advantages and challenging away games, the Buffaloes hope to translate early momentum into a strong start to the Big 12 season. The schedule underscores the program’s ambition to compete nationally while honoring regional rivalries that have defined Colorado basketball for decades.
