A historic matchup returns to the hardwood
Colorado’s men’s basketball team will open its season on November 7 against San Diego State in the inaugural National University Bill Walton Classic, held at Pechanga Arena in San Diego.
The same weekend will also feature a women’s contest between San Diego and UC San Diego, expanding the showcase of West Coast programs.
Coach Tad Boyle said he is eager to test his squad against an elite program, noting the rarity of the matchup — the two sides have not met since 1976 and are tied 3‑3 in their all‑time series.
Schedule and series history
The non‑conference slate includes a home game against Colorado State and a road trip to Providence, while Colorado remains slated for the Acrisure Series tournament in Palm Desert, a competition the Buffaloes captured a year ago.
A new face in the paint
Freshman forward Eric Jacobsen signed a financial aid agreement with the Buffaloes after a standout prep career at Brewster Academy and a recovery from a torn ACL that kept him out of action last season.
His addition brings the roster to the NCAA maximum of 15 scholarship players, giving Coach Boyle a deeper bench as the team looks to build on recent progress.
