A New Quarterback Target in Boulder
The University of Colorado’s football program has officially entered the recruitment race for Texas quarterback Trey Wright, a 2028 prospect who has already attracted attention from a host of Power Five schools.
Wright, who tops out at 6‑2 and 205 pounds, posted a standout 2025 season that included 4,042 passing yards, 54 touchdowns and 1,764 rushing yards. His dual‑threat skill set has earned him a 28th‑overall ranking among quarterbacks and a 52nd‑overall spot within the state of Texas.
The Buffaloes’ offer marks the 19th quarterback commitment they have extended in the current cycle, underscoring a strategic focus on adding depth at the position. Wright currently holds 28 scholarship offers, including those from Arizona, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon and UCLA.
Colorado’s 2028 class remains largely open, with no existing commitments yet filed. The coaching staff is leveraging the early recruiting window to secure top talent before the December 2 early signing period, aiming to preserve the momentum built by a strong 2027 class that currently sits at No. 33 nationally.
If Wright decides to commit, he would join a growing list of blue‑chip prospects choosing the Buffaloes, a development that could significantly impact the team’s offensive outlook for the next few seasons.
