State Baseball Championships Preview
The Colorado high school baseball season is set to culminate with state tournaments for Class 5A and Class 4A, featuring eight teams in each division. Games will be spread across Lakewood, Denver, the Air Force Academy and Colorado Springs, with the championship titles decided the following weekend.
Class 5A Contenders
Arvada West, Broomfield and Regis Jesuit headline the 5A field, each bringing recent success and strong rosters. Broomfield, the 2022 champions, enter as the most recent titleholders, while Regis Jesuit has been a perennial runner‑up to Cherry Creek over the past two seasons.
Among the standout players, University of Texas commit Cooper Vais is widely discussed as a favorite for player of the year, alongside other top prospects such as JR Ramsey, Chase Massey and Dane Dial.
Dark Horses and Surprising Contenders
Pine Creek, Fairview and Mountain Vista are among the teams that could break into the upper echelon, while Legend and Chatfield are being labeled as dark‑horse programs capable of pulling off upsets.
Class 4A Outlook
In the 4A bracket, Palisade, Durango and Falcon are listed as top favorites, with Grand Junction, Pueblo County, Canon City and Holy Family also in the mix. Ponderosa is highlighted as a dark‑horse team that could make a deep run.
The tournaments will be held at the Air Force Academy and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, providing a unique venue mix that adds to the event’s prestige.
With the championship weekend fast approaching, coaches and players alike are focused on executing game plans that can translate early‑season promise into a state title.
