Colorado School of Mines Baseball Secures Sixth Brechler Award Amid Record‑Setting Season

The Orediggers posted a 3.500 team GPA, captured the conference championship, and set new offensive benchmarks despite a title‑game loss to Colorado Mesa.

The Colorado School of Mines baseball program added another accolade to a storied season, capturing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Brechler Award for the highest team grade point average in the 2025‑26 academic year.

With a collective GPA of 3.500, the Orediggers secured the honor for the sixth time in program history, underscoring the team’s commitment to scholarship as well as competition.

Academic Excellence Meets Athletic Ambition

The 2026 campaign concluded with a 21‑33 overall record and a 14‑18 mark in RMAC play, yet the Orediggers surged to the conference championship game.

Despite falling to top‑seeded and nationally ranked Colorado Mesa, the team posted the highest team batting average, the most runs scored, the most hits and the most RBI in a single season in program history.

Brechler Award winners will be recognized during the 2026 RMAC Hall of Fame & Awards Banquet, scheduled for Thursday, July 9, at the COS City Hub in Colorado Springs.

Looking ahead, the coaching staff emphasizes that the blend of academic rigor and athletic performance will continue to shape the next generation of Orediggers, aiming to translate this season’s momentum into future championships.
