Colorado Springs’ 21st Annual Pro Football Camp Inspires Young Athletes

Volunteer coaches and professionals teach skills, teamwork, and community values to children aged 7‑14

A Legacy of Leadership

For more than two decades, the Pro Football Camp in Colorado Springs has been a summer staple for children between seven and fourteen, offering them a chance to learn the fundamentals of the game while instilling broader life lessons.

Co‑founder Craig Domann, who helped launch the camp two decades ago, repeatedly stresses that football is a vehicle for teaching resilience, collaboration and leadership, qualities he says are essential beyond the field.

Eight‑year‑old camper Carson Berry recently described how the sessions introduced him to new tackling techniques and refined his ball‑control, illustrating the camp’s hands‑on instructional approach.

Former Chicago Bears linebacker Sterling Weatherford, who has volunteered at the camp for several years, spoke of the energizing atmosphere, noting that coaching the enthusiastic kids renews his own passion for the sport.

This year’s edition welcomed nineteen professional athletes who served as mentors, while former NFL wide receiver Paul Browning highlighted the importance of giving back to the local community that supports them.

Trevor Hudson, head coach of Pine Creek football, joined the volunteer roster, underscoring his commitment to the Colorado Springs community and to promoting the values of teamwork and personal growth.

Beyond skill development, the camp’s organizers emphasize a holistic approach that blends athletic training with character building, aiming to foster both individual confidence and collective spirit among participants.
