A Season of Recognition
The Colorado high school soccer community gathered excitement this week as the 2026 All‑Colorado League girls teams were announced, spotlighting talent from Aurora Central, Gateway, Overland, Adams City, Skyview and Thornton. The selections, determined by a vote of league coaches, celebrate not only individual excellence but also the growing depth of girls’ soccer across the Front Range.
Among the honorees, Gateway contributed three athletes to the first team, a testament to the program’s consistent performance. Danna Gutierrez, a standout forward from Gateway, earned her spot alongside two other teammates, underscoring the school’s strong pipeline of talent.
Thornton’s Dayanis Holguin‑Loya was crowned Player of the Year after a season that combined prolific scoring with relentless defensive work. Her leadership on the field inspired her squad to a memorable campaign and drew praise from opponents and coaches alike.
Skyview’s coaching staff received special notice as Miguel Morris was named Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, the team posted a record-breaking season, blending tactical innovation with player development, and earning the respect of peers throughout the league.
The recognition extends beyond individual accolades, reflecting a broader cultural shift toward investing in girls’ sports across Colorado. Community leaders hope the spotlight will encourage further support for youth soccer programs, from funding to facility upgrades, ensuring that the next generation can build on this momentum.
