Commitment Brings Height and Experience to Marquette
Colton Crowdis, a 6‑foot‑4 Canadian guard, announced his intention to join Marquette University’s basketball program as a freshman this fall. The commitment marks the culmination of a recruiting journey that began when the player originally entered the 2026 class before opting for a post‑graduate year at Bridgton Academy.
Crowdis will retain four years of eligibility at Marquette, giving the program a long‑term option at the point guard position. His size and skill set provide a different dimension compared with existing backcourt pieces, potentially altering how the team structures its rotations.
The breakthrough came through the efforts of Marquette assistant coach Cody Hatt, whose network also sparked interest from St. John’s and Providence. Hatt’s connections helped bridge the gap between the player’s development at Bridgton and the university’s coaching staff.

Shaka Smart, the head coach, now has the prospect of integrating Crowdis into a guard corps that already features Nigel James, Tyler Kolek and Kam Jones. The addition could allow Smart to experiment with lineups that keep multiple playmakers on the floor simultaneously.
Analysts suggest that Crowdis’s arrival might push the team toward fielding both Kolek and Jones together, creating depth at the point while also giving Smart flexibility in deploying Minessale in other roles.
