A Familiar Face Returns to the Buccaneers
Colton Everett has rejoined Charleston Southern University as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program, bringing more than ten years of collegiate coaching experience. His return marks a homecoming after stints at several other institutions, and the university is eager to leverage his proven track record.
Prior to his current appointment, Everett served as an assistant at Ohio Dominican University, where he helped the Panthers secure 19 victories in the 2025‑26 season — a school‑record performance. He also contributed to Malone University’s consecutive 18‑win seasons and a runner‑up finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
Everett’s earlier tenure at Charleston Southern (2017‑21) saw him rise from Director of Basketball Operations to Interim Assistant Coach. During that period, he was part of a staff that captured the program’s first-ever postseason victory, a milestone that still resonates with the university community.
His coaching journey began as a graduate assistant at Hawaii Pacific University, where he also earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Leisure Studies from The Ohio State University, underscoring a strong academic foundation that complements his on‑court expertise.
Head coach Saah Nimley expressed enthusiasm about Everett’s return, highlighting the alignment of Everett’s values and skill set with the Buccaneer program’s culture. Nimley noted that Everett’s deep connection to the university and his proven ability to develop talent make him an ideal fit for the team’s aspirations.
