The move comes after a contentious transfer that initially rendered him ineligible under Texas rules, a hurdle that was cleared on June 16 by the University Interscholastic League following a District Executive Committee vote.
At Marcus High School, Nussmeier completed 60% of his passes for 1,390 yards and 12 touchdowns before a season‑ending knee injury. Despite the injury, his performance earned him a ranking of 199th overall in the 2027 class and 13th among quarterbacks by 247Sports, leading him to commit to the University of Georgia and coach Kirby Smart on June 5.
A Program With a Proven Track Record
Archbishop Rummel enters the 2025 season having posted an 8‑5 record and averaging 23.4 points per game. The school has a storied history of producing NFL talent, most notably wide receiver Jamaar Chase, who later became a standout for the Cincinnati Bengals and LSU. The upcoming roster will also feature Tulane running back commit Jaden Terrance and three‑star athlete Jaylan Ash, creating a dynamic skill set around Nussmeier.
