A New Chapter for Lions' Development
Columbia University has appointed Nicole Stephens as its new Scouting & Player Development Assistant, a move that signals a deepening commitment to elevating the women's basketball program within the Ivy League.
Stephens brings a rich playing pedigree that includes leading the Griffith University Lions to their first two Ivy League Championships in 2023 and 2024, while also guiding the team to a WNIT Championship Game appearance in 2023 and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2024.
Her collegiate journey also featured two graduate seasons at Dayton, where she earned Academic All‑Atlantic 10 honors, was named Preseason All‑Atlantic 10, and received the Dayton Athletics 'Most Outstanding Leader Award' for her on‑court impact and off‑court leadership.
In her expanded role, Stephens will coordinate roster management, maintain the recruiting database, track transfers through the portal, and compile comprehensive player development data. She will also schedule workouts, organize film sessions, and ensure that skill‑development resources are optimally allocated.
Beyond analytics, she will oversee practice and game‑day logistics, manage equipment setup, prepare travel itineraries, and produce internal program materials, thereby streamlining the operational backbone of the team.
