Under the new matrix each team will meet its division rivals four times apiece, facing all seven opponents in the division a total of four games, while conference play adds three meetings against each of the eight teams in the other division of the same conference. Inter‑conference games will see the Jackets travel to each of the 16 clubs from the opposite conference twice.

The season will open at home on October 1, 2026, when the Blue Jackets host the Buffalo Sabres, a matchup that kicks off a stretch in which seven of the first nine games are played on the road. The club will endure 13 sets of back‑to‑back games throughout the campaign, and a five‑game homestand in February and March stands as the longest stretch of consecutive games at Nationwide Arena this season.
