Columbus Crew and Columbus Metropolitan Library Deepen Ties to Boost Soccer and Literacy

A new partnership brings free tickets, limited‑edition library cards and community events to fans and readers alike.

The Columbus Crew and the Columbus Metropolitan Library have taken a decisive step toward intertwining sports and education by extending their existing partnership. On June 14, families will gather at the Main Library for a free kickoff celebration that blends soccer excitement with literary fun.

A Community‑Focused Initiative

The collaboration builds on programs such as the library’s Culture Pass, the Summer Reading Challenge and the upcoming 2026 Columbus Book Festival. Attendees can look forward to interactive soccer experiences, limited‑edition commemorative library cards and a host of family‑friendly activities designed to spark curiosity both on the field and on the page.

Stephanie Cedeño, the Crew’s Vice President of Community Relations, emphasized that soccer serves as a powerful connector, capable of uniting diverse groups and creating shared opportunities for growth.

Lauren Hagan, CEO of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, expressed pride in the partnership’s impact, noting that it reinforces community pride while promoting educational achievement across the region.

As part of the agreement, the Crew will distribute complimentary tickets to select matches at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field, allowing library cardholders to exchange their cards for free admission to games against rivals such as FC Cincinnati, CF Montréal and the New York Red Bulls.

The partnership also supports the library’s Summer Reading Challenge with giveaways, signed memorabilia and exclusive fan experiences. In a special gesture, the Crew is contributing 23 signed MLS adidas mini balls and offering a grand prize package that includes four tickets to the September 27 match against Inter Miami CF.
