A High-Scoring Battle in Marshall
The Concordia Texas baseball team saw its season end in the NCAA Marshall Regional Final, falling 13-9 to East Texas Baptist after a contest that featured more than 20 combined runs.
East Texas Baptist opened the game with a burst of eight runs, six in the first inning and two in the second, quickly building a sizable lead.
The Tornados answered in the sixth inning, scoring five times to cut the deficit to 8-6. Samuel Ortiz opened the rally with a leadoff homer, Carson Riley followed with a three-run shot, and Ty Klaus-Kisamore added a two-run homer to fuel the comeback.
East Texas Baptist responded with a solo homer in the sixth and a three-run blast in the seventh, extending their advantage, while Ralph Wallace III provided a notable relief effort to keep the Tornados within striking distance.
In the ninth inning, Louis Alonzo launched a two-run homer and Jake Townsend contributed an RBI single, but the rally fell short as the opposing team sealed the win.
The loss capped a season in which Concordia Texas posted a second straight 30-win campaign and reached the Regional Final for the third consecutive year, underscoring the program’s steady rise.
