Regional accolades highlight Concordia's baseball excellence
Three members of the Concordia University Irvine baseball squad have been celebrated by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association, earning spots on the West Region All‑Region teams. Wyatt Madison was selected to the first team, Matthew Kaiser earned a second‑team nod, and Dylan Knowles received an honorable mention from the National College Baseball Writer's Association.
Madison, a dual‑threat pitcher and hitter, posted a 5‑1 record with a 3.21 ERA in PacWest competition while batting .277 and launching ten home runs. His ability to dominate both on the mound and at the plate made him a cornerstone of the Golden Eagles' success.
Kaiser turned in a standout season as well, leading the team with six complete games and two shutouts. His durability allowed the staff to rely on him deep into games, often turning potential tight contests into comfortable victories.
Knowles paced the offense with a team‑high 15 doubles and 15 hit‑by‑pitches, batting .319 and driving in 38 runs. His on‑base versatility contributed heavily to the lineup's rhythm and helped the Eagles secure a second‑place finish in the conference.
A program in transition
The Golden Eagles concluded the year with a strong showing, finishing second among twelve PacWest programs and posting some of the best win totals in recent memory. Head coach Joe Turgeon praised the collective effort that made the campaign possible, noting the impact of a large senior class that graduated in May, with Knowles the sole All‑Conference senior.
While the team will lose key contributors, the recognition of Madison, Kaiser and Knowles signals a promising foundation for future seasons. Their performances not only highlight individual excellence but also underscore the program's growing reputation on the national Division 2 stage.
