A Return to Familiar Ground
Connecticut College announced this week that Corey Begly will take the reins of its men's basketball program, installing a familiar face at the helm after a distinguished stint as an assistant coach from 2019 to 2023.
Begly’s return comes after three years at Washington College, where he guided the team to its strongest opening stretch since 1928 during the 2025‑26 season, a performance that has generated considerable excitement among alumni and players alike.
During his earlier tenure at the college, Begly played a key role in recruiting and developing talent that helped the Camels achieve their best conference showing since 2005, laying a foundation that many credit for the program’s recent resurgence.
His coaching pedigree includes recognition as the 2019 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year at St. Lawrence University and a co‑coach award in the NEPSAC Class C division at Hyde School, where he also led teams to multiple championships.
Athletic director Mo White, who was part of the hiring committee, praised Begly’s vision and his ability to translate experience into tangible growth, stating that the new leadership is expected to elevate the program to new heights.
Fans and stakeholders alike are eager to see how Begly’s blend of strategic acumen and player development will translate to the competitive NESCAC stage, with many anticipating a promising future for the Camels.
