Summer baseball in Connecticut is experiencing a surge, as collegiate players who normally compete on campuses across the country return home to join local summer leagues. The state hosts teams in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, while the Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League adds a uniquely state-focused layer to the competition.
The Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League features twelve teams, many of which are built entirely from Connecticut-based athletes. These rosters often consist of rising high school graduates and college underclassmen, creating a dense pool of local talent that rivals the more established summer circuits.
All-Star Game Set for July 11
The league’s All-Star game will take place on July 11 at Heroes Field in Glastonbury, bringing together the standout performers from across the twelve clubs. The event serves as a showcase for the region’s emerging stars and offers fans a rare glimpse of the next generation of baseball talent.
Among the highlighted players, T.J. Baer of Marist set a single-season school record with 47 hits and earned All-MAAC Rookie Team honors. Jack Treat from Bryant University, a 2026 GametimeCT First Team All-State selection, posted a .534/.636/1.069 slash line in his senior season. Camden Righi of the University of Connecticut was named Big East Freshman of the Year and earned Baseball America’s Second Team Freshman All-American nod.
Cal Chance from UMass Lowell, a 2025 GametimeCT First Team All-State selection, established a school record with 135 hits, while Justin Hackett, also of Bryant, was a 2022 GametimeCT First Team All-State pick and a first-team All-America East choice. Alex Benevento from Brown captured 2024 GametimeCT All-State honors after hitting .556 with a 1.619 OPS in his senior year.
These performances underscore a broader trend: Connecticut’s summer baseball ecosystem is not only preserving local talent but also producing players who attract attention from professional scouts and collegiate programs nationwide. The upcoming All-Star game promises to be a pivotal moment for these athletes as they transition from summer competition to the next phase of their careers.
