A New Chapter for the Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks have formalized a five‑year contract extension for forward Connor Bedard, a deal that will keep the 21‑year‑old on the roster from the 2026‑27 season through the 2030‑31 campaign.
Bedard’s breakout 2025‑26 campaign saw him reach personal bests of 30 goals, 45 assists and 75 points, numbers that placed him at the top of the team’s scoring leaders and contributed to five game‑winning goals.
The milestone season also earned him recognition as the NHL’s Third Star of the Month for November and added to a collection of early career honors, including the Calder Trophy and the IIHF’s 2023 Male Player of the Year.
Internationally, Bedard has been a mainstay for Canada, helping the nation capture gold at the 2022 and 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships and contributing eight points in ten games at the 2024 World Championship.
With a career tally of 203 points in 219 NHL appearances, Bedard’s consistency has made him a cornerstone of the Blackhawks’ rebuilding effort, a role that general manager Kyle Davidson believes will only grow in importance.
Looking Forward
The organization views the extension as a signal of long‑term stability and a foundation upon which the next wave of talent can be built, while fans anticipate how the star forward will translate his offensive firepower into sustained team success.
