Coppin State University announced Tuesday that head coach Darrell Mosley has expanded his women's basketball coaching roster by welcoming Riley Maye and La'Sheena Brooks as new assistants.
Riley Maye arrives after a distinguished tenure at Harcum College, where he served as both assistant and head coach, guiding the program to a 28‑6 record in the 2023‑24 season and earning District Coach of the Year honors.
During his time at Harcum, Maye mentored several athletes who later competed at Division I institutions and even reached the WNBA, underscoring his reputation as a developer of talent.
La'Sheena Brooks, who spent five seasons as head coach at Shorter University, brings a championship pedigree, having led the team to back‑to‑back titles and maintaining a collective GPA above 3.0 across her squads.
Her tenure was marked by community service initiatives and academic excellence, earning her WBCA Thirty Under 30 recognition and a nomination for the Women's Coaches Next Up award.
A Strategic Boost for the Eagles
Both Maye and Brooks are expected to reinforce Mosley’s vision of competitive play and scholarly achievement, positioning Coppin State’s program for sustained growth in the Mid‑Eastern Athletic Conference.
The additions come as Coppin State looks to build on recent successes, leveraging the expertise of coaches with proven records in player development and program building.
University officials highlighted the alignment of Maye’s and Brooks’ philosophies with the institution’s commitment to athletic excellence and academic integrity.
Fans and alumni have responded positively, anticipating a fresh infusion of strategy and energy for the upcoming season.
