Powell’s Fifth Annual Camp Brings Football Fun to Greenville
The fifth edition of Cornell Powell’s youth football camp will take place this Saturday at J.H. Rose High School, offering a free, three‑hour session for children between six and thirteen years old.
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., with the camp officially running from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the school’s main field, and walk‑ins are welcomed without prior sign‑up.
Powell, a former Rampants alum who once tallied 88 touchdowns at J.H. Rose, brings a deep local connection to the event. After starring at Clemson University — where he helped the Tigers capture two national championships — he earned a Super Bowl ring with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 and now competes in the United Football League with the DC Defenders.
A Legacy On and Off the Field
This season, Powell was honored as the UFL’s Sportsman of the Year for his extensive community outreach, underscoring his commitment to giving back to the region that shaped his career.
Following the camp, the school’s soccer field will host a block party from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring food vendors, music, and activities that celebrate the spirit of Greenville.
The gathering provides families with a chance to meet the former college and professional standout, learn basic football skills, and enjoy a festive atmosphere that highlights the power of sport to unite neighborhoods.
