Shortly after the title was awarded, the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association announced that the championship and the entire season would be vacated, replacing the entry with the word “Vacated” in the state record books. No official explanation was provided, leaving coaches, players and fans without clarity.
The decision came on the heels of another sanction involving the school’s baseball program, which was also removed from the Southern Nevada Region Class 5A playoffs earlier in the year. Both actions were described by the NIAA as part of a broader review, but the lack of detail has fueled speculation about underlying compliance issues.
Coronado, located in Henderson, Nevada, has long been celebrated for its athletic excellence, boasting recent state titles in basketball, volleyball and baseball. The soccer program, in particular, has claimed three consecutive Class 5A championships, with the 2024 campaign standing out as the most dominant performance in the school’s recent history.
The vacated records also erased statistical highlights from the 2024 season, including a 187‑goal scoring tally and a defensive record of just 12 goals allowed. Those numbers, once a source of pride for the community, now exist only in unofficial archives.
