Cory Macchioni Joins Campbell’s Coaching Staff as Director of Operations

A seasoned basketball administrator brings a wealth of experience to the Camels

Campbell University announced the hiring of Cory Macchioni as its new Director of Operations for the Camels' basketball program, a move that underscores the school's commitment to strengthening its coaching staff with seasoned administrative talent.

A New Chapter for Campbell Basketball

Macchioni arrives after a distinguished tenure that includes two seasons as Chief of Staff at the University of Rhode Island, where he worked directly under Head Coach Ali Jaques, as well as a four‑year stint directing basketball operations for the Rams.

His career trajectory also features a four‑year period as Director of Basketball Operations at Canisius College, a role that followed his promotion from Video Coordinator to a senior administrative position after Tammi Reiss was named head coach in April 2019.

Prior to that, he contributed to the Providence Sky Chiefs of the American Basketball Association, helping the franchise capture a divisional and regional championship in its inaugural year, and he previously served as an assistant coach at Rhode Island College.

A native of Johnston, Rhode Island, Macchioni earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island in 2011 and a master's from Canisius in 2013, bringing both academic grounding and practical expertise to his new role.

Campbell's athletic director expressed confidence that Macchioni's blend of operational acumen and on‑court insight will elevate the program's competitiveness and support the university's broader athletic ambitions.
