Courtney Brewer Joins Williams College Women's Basketball Staff
Williams College announced this week that Courtney Brewer will serve as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program beginning with the 2026‑27 season, a move that brings a blend of playing experience and coaching acumen to the Williamstown campus.
Brewer's appointment follows a distinguished coaching résumé that includes stints at Georgia College and State University, where she oversaw recruiting, player development and community‑service initiatives, as well as roles at Louisburg College and Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia.
A Path Forged in Competition
Before transitioning to the sidelines, Brewer enjoyed a professional playing career that spanned the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League, where she suited up for the Winston‑Salem Lady Warcats, and the Women’s British Basketball League, notably with Leeds Force, before turning her focus to coaching.
A native of Lynchburg, she completed her undergraduate studies in graphic design at Lynchburg College, earning a bachelor's degree before pursuing a master's in art and design at Leeds Beckett University, a combination that reflects her creative perspective on the sport.
Her coaching journey began at Virginia Episcopal School, where she honed her approach to skill development and team culture, laying groundwork for the progressive trajectory she would later pursue at the collegiate level.
Building Talent at Every Level
At Louisburg College, her mentorship helped several athletes reach new heights, including an All‑American honoree and players who later competed in the EuroLeague, underscoring her ability to nurture talent beyond the classroom.
Her earlier role at Georgia College and State University further demonstrated her commitment to recruiting, player development and community‑service projects, reinforcing a philosophy that blends athletic ambition with social responsibility.
