A New Chapter for the Lions
Covenant Christian Academy, commonly known as CCA, has built a reputation as one of the most consistent high school football programs in south Louisiana, routinely securing playoff berths in Division IV select competition.
Under head coach Jesse Turner, the Lions have navigated a shift from District 7‑1A to the more competitive District 11‑2A, a move that brings fresh opponents such as Riverside Academy, Opelousas Catholic, and Houma Christian into the mix.
The 2024‑25 season concluded with an 8‑2 record and a second‑round playoff run, but the team will be without several standout seniors who helped shape that success, including quarterback Owen Trosclair, wide receiver Peyton Trosclair and running back Connor Lally.
Nevertheless, the roster retains promising talent, highlighted by returning quarterback Peyton Clement and running back Braydon Percle, who are expected to shoulder greater responsibility as the team adapts to its new district landscape.
Looking Ahead
Coach Turner emphasizes development and resilience, noting that while replicating past dominance may be challenging, the experience gained will be crucial as the Lions aim to qualify for the LHSAA playoffs in November.
The upcoming schedule, peppered with district matchups and non‑district rivals, will serve as a litmus test for the team’s ability to translate preseason optimism into on‑field results.
