Creek Wood High School in Tennessee hosted its annual Fun‑Da‑Mentals Baseball Camp last week, drawing 95 youngsters eager to learn the fundamentals of the game.
The week‑long program blended drills, competitive games and a beloved slip‑and‑slide finale that turned the practice field into a water‑park for a day.

Coach Chris Clapper, who has overseen the camp for several years, described it as the most enjoyable part of his summer, noting how the high school players relish the chance to give back while the campers absorb the basics.
Clapper highlighted that roughly half of the current varsity roster are alumni who once attended the camp, underscoring the program’s role in building continuity and a shared love of baseball.
Participants hailed from a wide swath of Tennessee counties — including Dickson, Humphreys, Montgomery, Houston, Cheatham, Williamson and Davidson — showcasing the camp’s regional reach.
Awards were presented to standout campers in each age bracket: Taylen Hagewood captured the 5‑6 division honor, Lincoln Travis won the 7‑8 category, Hunter Ford took the 9‑10 prize, and Cason Griffin was recognized in the 11‑12‑13 group.
Beyond skill development, the camp served as a conduit for teaching patience and the mental side of the sport, lessons that Clapper believes will stay with the youngsters long after they leave the diamond.
