About 40 children from the Omaha metro area gathered at Morrison Stadium for the second annual Creighton Soccer Abilities Camp, a program designed to give youngsters facing physical and developmental challenges a chance to experience the game.
The camp was conceived by Creighton Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach Toby Millward and his fiancée Hali, who drew inspiration from similar initiatives run by the university’s basketball teams over the past eight years.
A Day of Skill-building and Community
Campers rotated through three skill stations — dribbling, passing and shooting — where they practiced alongside Creighton players in a supportive environment.
Throughout the morning, physical therapy students from Creighton provided water, snacks and shaded rest areas, an upgrade from the previous year’s setup.

Senior midfielder Clara Kulick of the Creighton Women’s Soccer team praised the campers’ enthusiasm, noting that the event reinforces the university’s commitment to community outreach through sport.
Freshman Peter Westling of the Men’s Soccer squad described the experience as a reminder of why he loves the game, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the local community.
Addie Goihl, a physical therapy student, highlighted the new shaded zones as a key improvement that made the day more comfortable for participants.
Toby Millward underscored the value of sharing Morrison Stadium with the community, stating that the field’s daily use by students makes it a natural venue for such inclusive events.
The camp welcomed a handful of returning campers from the previous year, and Millward expressed optimism that participation will continue to grow, offering more children the chance to play, learn and connect.
