Creighton Women’s Basketball Welcomes Jessica January as New Assistant Coach

Former DePaul Star Returns to Midwest to Join Coaching Staff

A Strategic Addition to the Coaching Staff

Creighton University announced Tuesday that Jessica January will join the Bluejays' women's basketball program as an assistant coach, bringing a blend of playing experience and coaching acumen to the staff.

January, a DePaul University alum who starred for the Blue Demons from 2013 to 2017, returns to the Midwest after stints as an assistant at DePaul during the 2025‑26 season and as a high school coach in Minnesota.

Coach Jim Flanery praised the new hire, noting that her time on the court — including BIG EAST All‑Freshman Team honors in 2013‑14 and a spot on the All‑BIG EAST Second Team in 2015‑16 — gives her a deep understanding of the game and the ability to relate to current players.

Flanery added that January will play a key role in helping athletes navigate challenges, develop their strengths and build on the program’s recent successes.

The position became available when Jordann Reese departed for the University of Michigan, opening a pathway for January to contribute to a roster that is poised for continued growth.
