Cretin-Derham Hall Falls to Edina as Champlin Park Advances in Consolation Play

Rain-delayed victory for Champlin Park highlights a busy day in Minnesota high school baseball

Quarterfinal Setback

Cretin-Derham Hall, the defending Class 4A champions, saw their tournament run end with a 10-3 loss to Edina on Tuesday.

The Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead after four innings, but Edina answered with ten runs across the fifth and sixth frames, turning the game on its head.

Coach Buzz Hannahan said the team’s downfall came from too many walks and costly errors, but he praised the seniors for their effort and highlighted the squad’s overall progress this season.

The loss dropped Cretin-Derham Hall to 19 wins and 9 defeats on the year, and the club will now meet Andover in a consolation match scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m.

Rain-delay Thriller at Champlin Park

In a separate contest, Champlin Park edged Andover 3-2 after a 69-minute rain delay halted play in the seventh inning.

Jaden Oligmueller delivered a two-RBI single in the fourth to push the lead to 3-1, and Donovan Vendel later cut down a runner at the plate to seal the victory.

The win follows an earlier meeting in which Edina had beaten Cretin-Derham Hall 7-2 on May 4, underscoring the competitive nature of the tournament.
