Veteran leadership, emerging talent and a culture of teamwork set the stage for a championship run

Crocker Soccer Eyes District Glory in 2026

The Crocker soccer program is gearing up for the 2026 campaign, bringing back eight lettermen and six full‑time starters from a nine‑win season a year ago. The coaching staff is confident that the blend of experience and developing youth will give the team a solid foundation as they open the season at home against Marantha Baptist on August 28.

Head coach Rich Heenan has repeatedly emphasized that the squad’s identity is built on camaraderie, selflessness and a relentless work ethic. He believes the returning core gives the team a strong position, while also providing a platform for younger players to grow into larger roles.

A Veteran Core Leads the Charge

Seniors Johnny Carriger and Ryan Mathus will anchor the midfield and defense respectively. Carriger, a two‑time Class 1 First‑Team All‑State selection, posted 22 goals and five assists last year, while Mathus has been a defensive mainstay for three consecutive seasons, praised for his leadership and shot‑stopping ability.

Depth and Competition Add Momentum

In the midfield, juniors Aiden Resch and Cole Shattuck are expected to add depth, having contributed goals and assists in the previous season. Freshmen Mathew Resch and Tucker Brown, along with newcomer Braden Devine, who tallied five goals and an assist last year, should provide additional attacking options.

Goalkeeping duties will be contested by Jayden Bodkins and Randall Moore, both of whom have devoted the offseason to refining their technique. Their competition is expected to elevate the position and give the defense added stability.

The ultimate goal is a district championship, and the team hopes to start that pursuit with a strong performance in front of their home crowd on August 28. With a culture of accountability and teamwork, Crocker believes this season can be a breakthrough.
