The College Sports Communications released its 2026 Academic All-District baseball teams on Tuesday, spotlighting the finest student-athletes who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom.
Among the honorees are five members of the Briton program — Jack LaPorte, Tyler Murphy, Brendan Schultz, Evan Schuster and Carter Stahl — who earned recognition for their combined athletic and academic achievements.
Schultz, a standout pitcher, also secured a spot as a CSC Academic All-America finalist, positioning him for the national ballot that will determine the ultimate scholar‑athlete of the year.
Eligibility standards shape the honor
To be considered, nominees must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and have completed at least 90% of their school's games or started in 66% of them. Pitchers are required to log a minimum of 17 appearances or 35 innings, ensuring that only those with substantial workload are eligible.
The All-District selections draw from a deep pool of talent, with past recipients such as Mark Flancbaum, Tyler Millward and Riley Stesiak having progressed to national recognition, underscoring the program's tradition of excellence.
A legacy of achievement
The list also includes alumni like Jacob Rinkinen, Mike Schypinski, Cole Giesige, Luke Robertson, Brayden Raether and Carson Dunn, whose earlier honors reflect the sustained competitive edge of the Briton baseball squad.
As the national ballot approaches, Schultz joins a distinguished group of candidates vying for the prestigious All-America title, a testament to the growing prominence of collegiate baseball scholarship and academic rigor.
