A fresh start for the Lady Thunder
The CSU Pueblo women's basketball team came up just short of the postseason last year, finishing with a 13‑15 overall record and a 7‑7 mark at home.
Head coach Tommie Johnson described the campaign as a learning year, noting that the experience has given the squad a clearer sense of what it takes to compete at a higher level.
This offseason the roster has been reshaped with several newcomers, including freshman Kjani Anitielu, transfer Gabby Louther from UC San Diego, Kate Gallery, who earned second‑team all‑league honors at Regis, Shelomi Sanders, and Karys Washington, a standout from Wichita State.
The team also welcomes two point guards, Jaz Salon and Talia Strode, whose playmaking ability is expected to add a dynamic edge to the offense.
While the schedule presents tough matchups, Johnson remains confident that the new pieces will click quickly and that the team will be in rhythm by the holiday season.
