D.C. United is set to host two United in Play Soccer Celebration events in Washington, D.C., as part of the broader FIFA World Cup 2026 festivities.

A citywide celebration of soccer

The first celebration will take place from June 12 through June 14 at Franklin Park, while the second runs from June 19 through June 21 at Tingey Plaza in the Buzzard Point neighborhood.

Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the gatherings, emphasizing that they will showcase the capital’s energy and diversity while offering free admission to the public.

Attendees can look forward to youth soccer clinics, local food vendors, live music and large‑screen viewings of upcoming World Cup matches, creating a festive atmosphere that blends sport with community culture.

The events are being coordinated in partnership with the DowntownDC BID and the Navy Yard BID, with speakers from D.C. United and representatives of the BIDs scheduled to address the crowds.

Advance registration is required for entry, and the schedule includes dedicated days for different age groups and community partners, ensuring broad participation across the region.

D.C. United, one of the founding clubs of Major League Soccer, will leverage the celebrations to connect with fans and highlight its history of trophies and community engagement, including its home matches at Audi Field in Southwest Washington.

Local businesses and sponsors, such as FanDuel Group, are also involved, adding additional resources and promotional support to the initiatives.
