D.C. United announced that it would not proceed with the friendly against the Ethiopian National Team that had been set for July 11 at Audi Field.
The match had been positioned as the centerpiece of the third annual Ethiopia Soccer Legacy Match, an event designed to celebrate the growing ties between the two nations through soccer.
Club officials cited difficulties in obtaining the required visas for the Ethiopian squad and the heightened concerns surrounding the ongoing Ebola outbreak as the primary reasons for the cancellation.
In a statement, the club emphasized that the health, safety and well‑being of fans, players, staff and the broader community remained its top priority.
Ticket holders who purchased directly through the club or via Ticketmaster will receive automatic refunds, with most credits appearing on their accounts within three to seven business days.
Looking ahead to the next home game
The club confirmed that its next home fixture will take place on Saturday, July 25, when Toronto FC visits Audi Field, offering fans a chance to return to the stadium for a competitive match.
