A Nail‑Biter at the Lake
The Dalton Moneymakers secured a 10‑9 win over the Pontoosuc Lake Monsters in a dramatic showdown of the Berkshire Adult Baseball League, completing a 2‑0 series sweep and moving into the championship round.
Frank Curtiss emerged as the offensive catalyst, driving in four runs and delivering a decisive two‑run single in the top of the seventh that swung the momentum back in Dalton’s favor.
Paul McBride added depth to the lineup, going 1‑for‑2 with two runs batted in while also contributing on the mound, pitching four and two‑thirds innings.
The contest was a seesaw affair, with Pontoosuc tying the game at 9‑9 before the Moneymakers rallied to take the lead, only to see the Monsters answer with a two‑run burst in the bottom of the seventh that briefly put them ahead.
Dalton had built an early cushion, scoring twice in the second inning, including an RBI single by McBride, and later extending their advantage to 10‑6 after Dan Barrett’s three‑run single in the fifth.
Championship Matchup Looms
The Moneymakers now await the winner of the Tunnel City Freight versus Adams Pirates showdown, a series that will commence next weekend and determine the league’s ultimate champion.
