A Historic Season for Kansas Baseball
Dan Fitzgerald, the Kansas baseball manager, was crowned the 2026 Baseball America National Coach of the Year, a testament to a season that reshaped expectations for the program.
Under his guidance, the Jayhawks captured both the Big 12 regular‑season and tournament titles, finishing with a 45‑18 record and securing the school’s first Super Regional berth.
The accolade marks Fitzgerald’s second consecutive Big 12 Coach of the Year award, underscoring his rapid ascent in just his fourth year at the helm.
That campaign also delivered a host of program firsts: back‑to‑back NCAA Tournament appearances, record conference wins, and new highs in home runs, slugging percentage and pitching strikeouts.
