Transfer Portal Turmoil
Daniel Harden, a junior outfielder who appeared in 22 games for LSU during the 2026 season, has officially entered the transfer portal, seeking increased playing time after a modest .105 batting average and just two hits, one of which was a leadoff home run in the ninth inning against Sacramento State.
His exit marks the second position player to leave the Tigers this offseason, joining infielder Trent Caraway, as head coach Jay Johnson continues to reshape the roster following a disappointing 2026 campaign.
A native of Prairieville, Louisiana, Harden began his collegiate career at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, where he developed his skills before transferring to the SEC program.
Although he primarily served as a pinch runner and defensive substitute, Harden’s brief moments of impact, highlighted by that ninth‑inning homer, underscored his potential when given a larger role.
Coach Johnson, now in his second year at the helm, has signaled an aggressive approach to adding talent through the portal, a strategy that reflects a broader trend of LSU athletes exploring new opportunities as the college baseball landscape evolves.
