A Final Push for the Seminoles
Redshirt senior defensive tackle Daniel Lyons is entering his final season with the Florida State Seminoles, poised to translate years of preparation into a marquee performance. After a breakout 2023 campaign that helped the team capture the ACC Championship, Lyons is focused on cementing his place among the program’s defensive greats.
Lyons will do so alongside a cadre of former teammates who have already made the leap to the NFL. Jermaine Johnson II, Jared Verse, Braden Fiske and Joshua Farmer all earned draft selections, and their success has set a high bar for the current roster. In the championship game against Louisville, Lyons logged 15 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and five sacks, a showing that underscored his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
Off the field, Lyons has made a tangible change to his routine, hiring a private chef to fine‑tune his nutrition ahead of the new season. The move reflects a broader commitment to professionalism, a theme that extends to his emerging leadership role. With more than 60 newcomers on the squad, he emphasizes leading by example and maintaining open communication.
Last year, Lyons posted career‑high numbers — 26 tackles, 3.5 for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble — earning FSU’s most improved defensive player award. Over his four‑year tenure, he has compiled 71 tackles, 8.5 for loss, five sacks and a forced fumble, statistics that speak to both durability and impact.
Looking ahead, youngsters such as redshirt freshman Kevin Wynn and true freshmen Franklin Whitley, Jaemin Pinckney and Judah Daniels are expected to contribute immediately, giving Lyons a fresh arsenal of talent to shepherd.
