Danny Shannon Named Assistant Coach of Siena Women’s Soccer

The former goalkeeper brings collegiate experience and a sociology degree to the Saints' staff

Siena Women's Soccer announced today that Danny Shannon has been appointed as an assistant coach, a move that deepens the program’s coaching depth and brings a fresh perspective to the staff.

Shannon, a 2025 graduate of the University at Albany with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Psychology, previously served as a goalkeeper coach for the New York Shockers and at the University at Albany, where he earned America East Defender of the Week honors on September 12, 2022.

His playing career culminated in a graduate season at Binghamton University, where he started eight matches and posted a 1.38 goals‑against average, underscoring his defensive reliability.

A Strategic Addition for the Program

Head Coach Steve Karbowski expressed enthusiasm about the addition, noting Shannon’s blend of on‑field experience and academic insight will enrich the team’s development. The Saints look forward to integrating Shannon’s expertise as they prepare for the upcoming season, hoping his background will translate into stronger performances between the posts.
