Dariel Carrion remembers his first baseball moment as a child when a ball struck him, a jolt that initially made the sport seem unappealing.
The turning point came when he watched his older brother excel on the diamond, sparking a desire to follow a similar path.
A Mentor‑Driven Journey
Guided by figures such as Yadier Molina and Carlos Beltran, Carrion enrolled at the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy in Florida, where rigorous training coexisted with a structured academic program.
His typical day begins before sunrise, catching a bus that carries him to practice, study sessions and travel, reflecting the disciplined routine required to compete at elite levels.
As a catcher for SBA National, a premier travel and player‑development organization, he hones his defensive skills while navigating a demanding schedule of tournaments and workouts.
International Exposure and Team USA
In 2024, Carrion earned a spot on the 15U National Team and traveled to Australia for a five‑game Friendly Series, where the United States posted a perfect 5‑0 record and he started three games behind the plate.
The experience not only showcased his talent on an international stage but also reinforced his commitment to the sport.
Legacy and Future Aspirations
The memory of his late grandfather, who first inspired his baseball dreams, continues to drive Carrion’s perseverance despite economic hardships and early setbacks.
Following a successful stint at the National Training Complex, he received an invitation to the 16/17U Development Program in 2025, later advancing to the second phase of the 18U National Team Training Camp and a return trip to Cary, North Carolina for the first phase of that camp.
Carrion attributes much of his growth to USA Baseball, which he says has played an integral role in shaping his development as a player and as a person.
