The Dartmouth women's soccer team, branded as the Big Green, is preparing for a new season that follows a historic 2025 campaign in which the club captured the Ivy League championship and made its first NCAA Division I tournament appearance in more than two decades.
A New Chapter for the Big Green
Head coach Taylor Schram, hired in December 2022 and later rewarded with a multi‑year contract extension, emphasizes a disciplined defensive structure while urging the attack to generate more scoring chances. The roster returns senior goalkeeper Ola Goebel, who ranked second nationally with a .400 goals‑against average and fourth in save percentage (.894), as well as senior defenders Ellie Davidson and Kate Ryan and sophomore standout Anna Leschly, the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
Also back are sophomore forward Stephanie Lathrop, who topped the Ivy League with nine goals last season, along with fellow attackers Maeve Theobald, junior forward Emmanuella Frimpomaa and junior midfielder Lourdes Lauterborn. Midfielder Lykke Ihrfelt and forward Stephanie Lathrop will look to add depth in the final third, while senior defender Nadia Young continues to anchor the back line.
Adding to the mix, transfer forward Madison Rose arrived from Arkansas and is expected to embody the team’s aggressive, defensive‑forward style. Her arrival coincides with a broader push to improve a scoring offense that managed just 1.68 goals per game a year ago, a figure that placed the Big Green 89th in the nation.
The season opener is scheduled for August 20, 2025, at Burnham Field against UMass Lowell, a match that will serve as the first test of Schram’s philosophy of focusing on process, preparation and present performance as the squad confronts a competitive landscape.
